A ceramic painting exhibition featuring works by 97 Shanghai artists opened on Aug 15 and will run through Sept 15 at the Shanghai Qingu Art Gallery in Jiading district.
The exhibition brings together 100 works spanning traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, watercolor, and sculpture.
Unlike works on paper, ceramic paintings undergo a unique transformation in the kiln. Glazes can change color and texture at temperatures between 1,200 and 1,400 C, making each finished piece unique.
Artist Wang Yi said the final colors of her work Autumn Leaves in the West Wind differed from her original plan, but the unexpected results enhanced its artistic appeal.
Artist Chen Xiejun said that ceramic art has evolved from traditional wood-fired kilns to gas and electric kilns, yet its creative spirit remains unchanged.
The exhibition welcomes visitors to discover and appreciate the beauty of ceramic art.
