Jiading district's exhibition area made its debut at the main venue of the 2026 Shanghai Book Fair, which opened on Aug 12 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center.
The Jiading exhibition area highlights the district's reading culture and local heritage through three themes: reading by the lake, local literature and intangible cultural heritage.
A key attraction is the Yuanxiang Reading Loop, which brings reading into cultural spaces around Yuanxiang Lake.
The exhibition also features Jiading's traditional crafts and cultural products, including Xuhang straw weaving and Anting indigo calico. Interactive activities, such as traditional stamp making, have attracted visitors of all ages.
A display wall showcases works by Jiading writers, allowing visitors to pick up books and read them on site.
The exhibition is part of the "Reading Shanghai" area, which showcases how reading has become a part of everyday life.
The Jiading exhibition will remain open throughout the book fair, inviting visitors to explore its books, culture and traditional crafts.
