A five-star sports-themed hotel will be built next to the Shanghai International Circuit in Jiading district, adding a major new facility to support world-class motorsport events and business tourism.
The project was confirmed after Jiading's Anting town signed an agreement with Shanghai Juss International Sports Center Co Ltd. The hotel will be located on the east side of the circuit and will feature automotive and racing-inspired designs. It will be operated under a management contract with an internationally recognized five-star hotel brand.
According to the plan, the hotel will offer accommodation, leisure, business reception, conferences and exhibition services. It will also work closely with nearby attractions, including the Shanghai International Circuit and the Citizens' Sports Park, to create a comprehensive sports and tourism destination.
The new hotel is expected to fill the shortage of high-end accommodation around the circuit, where demand has continued to grow alongside the popularity of the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix. More than 230,000 spectators attended the 2026 race, setting a new record. During race weekends, hotel bookings within three kilometers of the circuit increased by an average of 125 percent, with many hotels fully booked.
Beyond major sporting events, the hotel will also serve the area's strong automotive industry. Surrounded by vehicle manufacturers and auto parts companies, it will provide year-round venues for business meetings, conferences and exhibitions, helping increase the use of the circuit's facilities outside the racing season.
Local authorities said they will continue working to accelerate the project, hoping to further strengthen the Shanghai International Circuit's supporting facilities and boost the integration of culture, business, tourism, sports and exhibitions.
