Jiading district was formerly known as Jiading county. It was first established as a county in 1218 and became a district of Shanghai in October 1992.
The district comprises eight towns: Anting, Malu, Nanxiang, Jiangqiao, Xuhang, Waigang, Huating, and Loutang. It also has four sub-districts: Jiadingzhen, Xincheng Road, Zhenxin, and Juyuan.
Anting town (安亭镇)
Home to Shanghai International Automotive City, Anting covers an area of 89.02 square kilometers. The town has a registered population of 93,099 and administers 22 community committees and 42 village committees.
