After a week of trial operations, Ruijin Hospital's Jiading campus has officially opened its Liver Center on Nov 25, enhancing the hospital's approach to the treatment of liver tumors.
The facility transitions care from outpatient collaboration to an integrated inpatient service, offering a comprehensive, one-stop solution for patients.

Mr Chen, a 65-year-old liver cancer patient, praised the new center's coordinated care. "The environment is welcoming, and the joint rounds by specialists provide thorough and reassuring treatment," he said.
Since 2013, Ruijin Hospital has led in multidisciplinary liver tumor treatment in China. The new center solidifies this model with dedicated wards and a cohesive team, integrating hepatology, surgery, and interventional radiology, supported by radiology, ultrasound, and pathology.
"We offer comprehensive care, from surgery to immunotherapy, for tumors at all stages," said Xie Qing, director of the Infectious Diseases Department.
Liver cancer treatment often requires various approaches. Many patients also have hepatitis B or cirrhosis, necessitating coordinated care.
Chen Yongjun, director of Hepatobiliary Surgery, explained, "Previously, patients navigated multiple departments, delaying treatment. Now, evaluations and treatments are integrated, accelerating the process."
The center also focuses on digital innovation, offering a structured data platform for the comprehensive care of liver tumors and integrating clinical, imaging, pathology, and follow-up data.
With 28 beds, the Liver Center has already admitted patients and completed its first laparoscopic liver surgery. It has also launched a national clinical research project on postoperative care for liver cancer.
