The Shanghai Finance Innovation Institution had its official opening, on Feb 21, at the 2014 Shanghai Internet Finance Seminar, in the Jiading district of Shanghai, where financiers, Internet associations, banks, and financial services companies gathered to discuss financial innovation and reforms in the Internet era, the government’s role in financial innovation, and opportunities and challenges that traditional financial institutions face.
Shanghai Finance Innovation, the result of a Shanghai Finance Valley and Shanghai Jiaotong University agreement, will provide consulting services, research, financial innovation information, platforms, forums, and training for policy-makers and finance enterprises. The same gathering saw 14 Internet finance companies signing agreements on a base in Jiading’s Industrial Zone.
Shanghai Finance Valley expects to focus on five services -- innovative financial transactions, support for start-ups and technology, financial research, financial settlements, and financial information technology. The work on financial valley is reaching an end and it is expected to go into operation sometime this year.
