Baotou company delivers products to large-scale power project
Baogang United Steel recently achieved dual breakthroughs in steel products for photovoltaic and wind power applications at its 1-GW integrated wind-solar-to-hydrogen project in Baotou's Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner.
The zinc-aluminum-magnesium coated steel products have been directly supplied for the photovoltaic segment of the project. Over 35,000 metric tons of high-performance wind power steel have also been delivered. This will be used for the fabrication of wind turbine towers for the project's wind power segment.
The project has a total installed capacity of 1,000 MW, including 700 MW of wind power, paired with 300 MW of photovoltaic power, energy storage and large-scale hydrogen production facilities. Upon completion, it will help to boost the local conversion of green electricity and reduce industrial carbon emissions, serving as a landmark new energy initiative for Baotou and the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Tailored for harsh operating conditions in Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner, such as strong sandstorms, Baogang's products feature superior corrosion resistance and weatherability, excellent bending and welding performance, and high compatibility with automated mass production. This can effectively improve bracket quality and cut maintenance costs.
The rollout of zinc-aluminum-magnesium coated steel for photovoltaic applications and high-performance steel for wind power use has also laid a solid material foundation for the integrated wind-solar-to-hydrogen project in Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner. This will help to drive the coordinated development of local industrial chains in Baotou, including tower fabrication and logistics transportation.
Baogang will continue to target key photovoltaic project markets and deepen its engagement in new energy projects in Baotou and surrounding regions. It will also press ahead with the upgrading of steel products for new energy sectors, supporting the development of China's major energy and strategic resource base.
