The 2026 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo opened on June 10, bringing together nearly 300 enterprises to showcase the latest technologies, products, and achievements in carbon neutrality. North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region participated as the event's only guest province, presenting its latest progress in achieving China's "dual carbon" goals of reaching peak carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality.

At its dedicated exhibition area, Inner Mongolia highlighted a range of low-carbon development initiatives, including two national-level zero-carbon industrial parks, four national carbon-peaking pilot projects, three sections of the China (Inner Mongolia) Pilot Free Trade Zone, a national pilot program for realizing the value of ecological products, and 11 representative enterprises from sectors such as energy, new materials, agriculture, and carbon services.

The exhibition attracted strong interest from visitors on its opening day. Representatives from the Chifeng High-tech Industrial Development Zone showcased achievements from its national carbon-peaking pilot program, along with innovative enterprises like Marvel Tech and Inner Mongolia Meijie New Energy Co.

Marvel Tech has developed the world's first independently designed hydrogen-ammonia dual-fuel gas turbine, which can achieve zero-carbon emissions using green hydrogen and green ammonia as fuel.

Officials said participation in the expo provides an important platform to strengthen green cooperation between Inner Mongolia and Shanghai, expand low-carbon trade opportunities, and enhance the region's influence in sustainable development. The event also offers opportunities for policy exchanges, industrial collaboration, and investment partnerships.

During the expo's themed activities, officials from Baotou and the Ordos Mengsu Economic Development Zone shared their experiences in the development of zero-carbon industrial parks, while representatives from Hulunbuir explained local efforts to support green international cooperation and sustainable economic growth.
