Inner Mongolia Normal University vice-president attends expo
Thousands of Chinese educators gathered in Zhuhai in southern Guangdong province for the 5th China Education Innovation Expo on Nov 12, according to the event's organizers.
Zhang Haifeng, vice-president of Inner Mongolia Normal University, gave a briefing on the achievements made by the IMNU in the cultivation of teachers’ professional skills, ethical and moral upbringing and structural reforms in education in recent years.
IMNU was the only higher education institute from Inner Mongolia autonomous region participating in the event.
University officials said IMNU has made significant achievements in the reform of teacher education, basic education and student innovation and entrepreneurship education. It had three innovative educational projects being showcased in the main exhibition.
Its undergraduate teacher team also participated in the second National College Student Educational Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest held during the expo and won two bronze awards.
About one-third of the country's 187 normal universities — colleges that train teachers — joined the fifth China Education Innovation Expo, along with local education bureaus and enterprises, according to Wang Shoujun, president of Beijing Normal University, which initiated the expo in 2015.
"The expo is nonprofit and we're striving to establish a platform where people can learn from each other and help to convert theoretical breakthroughs into teaching practice," he said.
Some 50,000 visitors attended the four-day exhibition at the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center, he said.
The event has become a key platform for China's education sector to brainstorm new ideas and spread good educational approaches to schools across the country, according to officials.
