2019-12-09

The first board meeting of the Confucius Institute of the Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University, or KSPU, was held at the Inner Mongolia Normal University on Dec 6, according to IMNU officials.

Yun Guohong, president of IMNU and Valery Kovalevski, president of KSPU, attended the meeting.

The board of directors approved the changes in the membership of the council. The 2019 work report, a work plan for 2020 and the budget report for 2020 were also reviewed at the meeting.

KSPU’s Kovalevski gave a quick briefing on the construction of the Confucius Institute. He pointed out that the institute is a major project for KSPU that requires long-term planning and hard work.

“We are steadily advancing the project. I hope that IMNU will continue to provide support for the future development of the Confucius Institute at KSPU,” he said.

IMNU’s Yun Guohong said he recognized the remarkable results achieved by KSPU since the Confucius Institute was listed in July this year. He pledged to continue to assist the construction and development of the Confucius Institute in terms of funds and equipment.

He also emphasized that the Confucius Institute is an important platform for cooperation between the two universities, but not the only one. He urged the two universities to continue to expand exchanges and cooperation in the fields of student exchanges, scientific research and academic visits.

The Confucius Institute program, which began in 2004, is a public educational organization under China’s Ministry of Education. It was established to promote the Chinese language and culture in the world, support international Chinese teaching and facilitate cultural exchanges.

Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University, founded in 1932, is a public higher education institution located in the city of Krasnoyarsk.

Officially recognized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, KSPU is a medium-sized university with around 6,000-7,000 students. It offers officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor’s degrees in several fields of study.
