Vice-president visits Belarus
Wang Laixi, vice-president of Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU), was invited to the Belarusian State University in Belarus for a visit Oct 9 to forge academic links, according to university officials.
Mikhail B. Charapennikau, vice-rector for economics and material-technical development, explained the role of the Belarusian State University in the development of the country’s higher education system.
He said that the university serves as an important platform for the cooperation in higher education and science between Belarus and China.
Wang Laixi also spoke highly of the university. Wang said that the IMNU has been making efforts to play a greater bridging role in promoting economic, trade and cultural exchanges, as well as technological cooperation between China and Belarus.
He expressed his wish for strengthened cooperation between the two institutions.
Founded in 1921, the Belarusian State University in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, is a leading scientific, educational, innovation and cultural center in the country.
It pays great attention to cooperation with foreign partners and has signed over 400 international agreements with universities and scientific institutes in more than 50 countries.
It has established friendships with more than 20 higher education institutes in China, many of which are leading institutes such as Beijing University and Shanghai University.
After the visit, the two sides signed a cooperation agreement and pledged to cooperate in the future development of higher education. The two sides will conduct different forms of joint activities, exchanges of undergraduate, master’s and PhD students for study and research training in the near future.
