The Government Management School of Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU) officially opened in Hohhot, capital of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on Aug 27.

More than 100 experts and officials from over 50 universities and institutes attended the opening ceremony. They held discussions on various topics including the public governance system, the modernization of governance in Inner Mongolia, and the development of Masters of Public Administration (MPA) programs. 

Nine academics reported on their latest work in the field of public management studies and shared their thoughts on exploring the future development of China’s social management.

“As a core discipline of Chinese universities, public management should place emphasis on studying public policies and affairs and improving government services,” said Zhou Xiaomei, vice director of the Education and Technology Department of the National Ethnic Affairs Commission, during a speech. 

Tuo Junjie, director of the IMNU Government Management School, said that as the first government management department in a minority area in China, the school has much room to improve and develop. 

“With the help of everyone here, it will surely be able to contribute to the development of the public management discipline,” said Tuo.
