Development and Planning Department of Inner Mongolia Normal University (IMNU), established in September 2003, is an integrated department responsible for the development plan, and the research on higher education and policies.

Its main responsibilities include: studying the development strategy of the university, formulating long-term development plans; introducing and promoting the advanced concept of management and school running; conducting research on policies and key issues about the reform and development of the university, and putting forward suggestions and research reports.

The staff member includes five full-time researchers and more than fifty part-time ones mainly responsible for educational policies and education for sustainable development.

More than 10 students are studying for a master degree in higher education in the department.
