The 6th Executive Committee Meeting of the International Confucian Association (ICA) was held in Beijing on November 9, 2023. 

Liu Yandong, former vice premier of China and president of the ICA, spoke at the meeting. Sun Chunlan, also a former vice premier, was unanimously elected to succeed Liu as the ICA’s president. After her election, Sun delivered a speech.

Rao Quan, deputy minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, spoke at the meeting, which was chaired by Ding Wei, the ICA’s executive vice president.

In November 2019, the ICA’s 6th General Assembly was held in Beijing. Since then, Liu and ICA chairman Fukuda Yasuo have embarked on a new journey for the development of the 6th International Confucian Association.

Over the past four years, the association has made significant progress in promoting cultural heritage, civilization exchange, and mutual learning, advocating for equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness.

It organized over 30 international and domestic academic forums, published 13 issues of the Journal of International Confucian Studies, and held nearly a hundred cultural exchange activities.

The organization has grown into an international academic and cultural organization, bringing together experts and scholars from 85 countries and regions. It has reached new heights in its mission and contributed eastern wisdom to promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

The meeting highlighted that 2024 is the 30th anniversary of the ICA's establishment. The association aims to fulfill its mission with greater enthusiasm and a more pragmatic approach, build an influential international organization, leverage civil society's advantages, and make significant contributions to the Global Civilization Initiative and the development of a shared future for humanity.

Members of the association’s executive committee, who are from various countries, participated in the vote. Secretary-General Jia Deyong gave a report on the ICA's main work over the past four years.

After the meeting, some members began taking part in cultural exchange activities in Beijing and Zhejiang.
