The Dialogue among Members - Friends of the International Confucian Association was held in Beijing on October 8.
The meeting, which included experts and scholars from countries such as China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Morocco, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Iraq, was conducted in a combined online and offline format.
It was hosted by the Liaison Committee for Members of the International Confucian Association (ICA).
Niu Xiping, vice president of the ICA, delivered a speech. Xu Yongji, deputy secretary-general and director of the Liaison Committee for Members of the ICA, chaired the opening ceremony.
Niu highlighted the proactive work of the ICA in recent years. He also expressed gratitude for the support received and proposed suggestions for expanding communication channels, conducting academic research, developing members, and strengthening ties with the African Union and the League of Arab States.
Scholars from various countries, including representatives from UNESCO and universities, discussed the theme "the modern development of Confucianism and the exchange of civilizations". They covered topics from traditional to modern, conservatism to innovation, cultural diversity to a community of a shared future, people-to-people exchanges to peaceful diplomacy, and historical experiences to contemporary practices.
The discussion was chaired by Yang Guiping, vice director of the Liaison Committee for Members of the ICA.
Since the launch of the Dialogue among Members - Friends of International Confucian Association brand in 2022, the Liaison Committee for Members of the ICA has organized five session activities attracting over 50 experts and scholars from 17 countries to participate.
These meetings have promoted member connections, communication, and the association’s service work.
