Wuchuan PV station generates revenue for village collectives
A poverty-alleviation photovoltaic (PV) station in Wulan Hudong village, Wuchuan county, Hohhot, was connected to the grid on May 30, 2025.
Funded by rural vitalization transfer funds, the project cost 32.5 million yuan ($4.85 million), covers 292 mu (19.47 hectares), and has an installed capacity of 10.96 megawatts. It uses 18,096 bifacial PV modules in a full feed-in model, with four box-type transformers and 36 inverters. Because it was connected before June 1, it qualifies for a guaranteed tariff of 0.28 yuan per kilowatt-hour.
The assets belong to 90 village collectives across the county and are expected to generate stable revenue for more than 20 years. The project pays land rent of 400 yuan per mu. After land is converted into shares, villagers receive more than 900 yuan per person annually. Revenue supports poverty alleviation, rural vitalization, and village sanitation.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Wuchuan increased its new energy installed capacity from 2.46 gigawatts in 2021 to 3.37 GW in 2025, a 36.9 percent increase. The county has 20 wind, solar, and hydropower stations, with cumulative clean energy generation exceeding 43 billion kWh.
