China Railway (Hohhot) handles 1.41m passengers during National Day holiday
During this year's National Day holiday, China Railway Hohhot Bureau Group handled a total of 1.41 million passenger trips, averaging 201,400 trips per day, a record high that also marks a 12 percent year-on-year increase in terms of average daily traffic from the corresponding period in 2025. The peak day was Oct 1, when 249,600 passenger trips were handled.
In addition to operating the peak-season timetable, the railway department proactively studied passenger flow patterns, analyzed travel demand, coordinated high-speed and conventional rail capacity, and optimized trains' operations.
During the holiday, stations including Hohhot, Baotou, and Ulaanqab upgraded and improved their wayfinding signage, optimized entry, exit, and transfer routes, opened additional security check lanes and manual verification channels during peak periods, and organized volunteers to guide passengers at key positions.
Stations including Wuhai and Bayannuur coordinated with local bus and transport management authorities, dynamically adjusted bus frequencies based on trains' arrival times, and increased taxi capacity during peak passenger flow periods.
Ordos Station focused on key passengers such as the elderly and children, and provided thoughtful services.
Xiliinhot Station improved and maintained regular Mongolian-Chinese bilingual services, providing ethnic minority passengers with end-to-end assistance, including ticket purchase guidance, station entry and waiting, and inquiry and help services.
