Togtoh county in Hohhot has taken a multi-pronged approach to rural vitalization in recent years, leveraging the Yellow River ecological corridor to integrate riverside ecological restoration, specialty agriculture and aquaculture, and distinctive tourism attractions.

In Haojiayao village, grape cultivation has expanded to over 3,000 mu (200 hectares). The village is also home to 33 farm-stay businesses. Operators now earn an average of more than 100,000 yuan ($14837.36) per year.

Dongyingzi village's fishponds yield 560 metric tons annually and generate revenue of over 2.58 million yuan. The village also boasts more than 480 mu of vineyards, producing 576 tons of grapes per year with an average income of 3,000–4,000 yuan per mu.

The Shenquan Ecological Tourism Scenic Area is bisected by the Yellow River into eastern and western sections. The east bank features classical gardens, while the west bank lies along the Kubuqi Desert. Meanwhile, it adheres to Yellow River ecological protection standards, conducting regular shoreline restoration and wetland conservation activities.

The Gengjia Taoyu Scenic Area offers a full range of amenities, including fishing bases, specialty restaurants, boutique homestays, and outdoor camping grounds. It attracted nearly 20,000 visits in the first half of 2026.

Togtoh is home to Hohhot's first musical highway. The 836-meter Yellow River Tourism Road includes a 586-meter core musical section and a 250-meter approach section. Designed for a speed of 55 kilometers per hour, the road plays a 37-second melody when vehicles maintain a constant speed. The road was constructed from April 20 to June 3.
