Hohhot's inbound tourism market heats up
At the 10th Tourism Ministerial Conference of China, Russia, and Mongolia, Russian and Mongolian travel agents and exhibitors gathered in Hohhot for business matchmaking and negotiations.
At the concurrently held "Tea Roads Connected · Invitation from Qingcheng" cultural and tourism promotion event between Hohhot and its sister cities in Russia and Mongolia, multiple cultural and tourism enterprises in Hohhot expressed their intent to cooperate with their Russian and Mongolian counterparts.
From May to June, Hohhot's inbound tourism market demonstrated strong growth momentum, with inbound visitors increasing by 30.2 percent year-on-year and inbound tourism consumption rising by 49.3 percent year-on-year.
Today, in addition to Russian and Mongolian visitors, tourists from Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia and Singapore are also exceptionally active. This year, South Korea has further boosted numbers through charter flights: from June 19 to Aug 29, 42 charter flights are expected to bring in over 7,000 South Korean tourists, and starting July 8, 16 direct charter flights from Busan to Hohhot will carry over 3,000 inbound visitors.
Since the start of July, a wave of large-scale, high-profile entertainment events has swept through Hohhot, including the Strawberry Music Festival and concert tours by Richie Jen and Zhou Shen. These events have not only captivated domestic music fans but have also significantly boosted Hohhot's international profile, offering inbound travelers a wider array of cultural and entertainment experiences.
Meanwhile, Hohhot's inclusion among the nation's top 100 must-visit destinations has further elevated its cultural and tourism brand recognition.
