The 50th International Museum Day Event kicked off in Hohhot on May 18.

The special exhibition, related to Hohhot's historical and cultural display, opened at the Hohhot Museum on May 17. Guests from over 20 cultural institutions, including the National Cultural Heritage Administration, the National Museum of China, and the Palace Museum, gathered. More than 700 cultural relics and sets were unveiled, including national treasures such as the Togtoh Sundial of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), which is housed by the National Museum of China.

Hohhot hosted the "Museum Night – Immersive Themed Performance Event" on May 18 in the Saishang Old Street Historical and Cultural District, featuring cultural elements from 12 leagues and cities and blending music, atmospheric lighting, and intangible cultural heritage (ICH) displays to create an unforgettable cultural feast.

Breaking the convention of daytime museum visits, the Five Pagoda Temple Museum created a starry-sky night session with interactive experience activities, offering the public a unique nighttime cultural experience that combined stargazing, research-based learning, and exploring ancient astronomy.

The Hohhot General Government Office Museum, Princess Heshuo Kejing's Mansion Museum, and other venues have prepared more than 10 immersive activities involving research-based science education, ICH handicrafts, theatrical parades, and interactive experiences.
