Hohhot's Q1 GDP hits 86b yuan

In the first quarter of 2023, the regional GDP of Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was 86.1 billion yuan ($12.5 billion), a year-on-year increase of 7.2 percent, according to a municipal press conference held on April 21.

In terms of industries, the added value of the city's primary industry was 1.81 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4 percent. The added value of its secondary industry was 25.36 billion yuan, an increase of 13.1 percent. Lastly, the added value of its tertiary industry was 58.91 billion yuan, an increase of 5.2 percent.

Hohhot's agricultural and animal husbandry production sector was generally stable. In the first quarter, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery increased by 4.3 percent year-on-year.

During the three-month period, industrial production increased rapidly. The added value of industries above a designated size increased by 15.5 percent year-on-year. Among the city's 28 major industries, 22 had positive year-on-year added value growth.

In the first quarter, the city's fixed asset investment also continued its rapid growth, with a year-on-year increase of 40.5 percent.

The city's investment in high-tech industries showed an astounding increase of 2.8 times year-on-year. Its investment in high-tech manufacturing increased rapidly by 7.5 times year-on-year, while its investment in high-tech services increased by 1.1 times year-on-year.
