Hohhot, the capital of North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is to further optimize the layout and positioning of industrial parks in the city, according to Hohhot Daily.

The city will optimize and adjust the layout of the existing 10 industrial parks within its boundaries to advance industrial transformation.

After the adjustment, Hohhot will boast seven industrial parks, including two national development zones (Hohhot Economic and Technological Development Zone, Hohhot Jinshan High-tech Industrial Development Zone) and four autonomous region-level industrial parks (Hohhot Chilechuan Dairy Development Zone, Hohhot Horinger Dairy Development Zone, Inner Mongolia Tuoketuo Industrial Park, Inner Mongolia Wuchuan Economic Development Zone).

The city will also be home to one municipal-level industrial park (Inner Mongolia Qingshuihe Industrial Park).

The leading industries in the industrial parks will be clarified after the layout adjustment, with each park selecting one or two specialty sectors based on regional resources, industrial facilities and environmental carrying capacity.

The annual output value of leading industries will gradually reach more than 60 percent of the industrial parks’ totals.

For example, the Ruyi area of Hohhot Economic and Technological Development Zone will focus on developing the headquarters economy industry and biomedical production.

The Shaerqin area will focus on developing the biotechnology industry and the equipment manufacturing industry, supporting the development of photovoltaic materials, food packaging and other industries. A biotechnology industrial park that makes vaccines and an intelligent equipment industrial park that manufactures smart home appliances will also be built in the area.

Inner Mongolia Tuoketuo Industrial Park will focus on the development of modern industrial and biomedical industries, supporting the development of non-ferrous metallurgical industries and the construction of an energy and heavy chemical industry base.
