A pipa competition was held at the Inner Mongolia Bureau of National Art Troupe in Hohhot, in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on July 30.

The competition, part of the 20th Zhaojun Culture Festival, was designed to promote  traditional Chinese culture and see that more pipa competitions are held across the country.

Students and teachers from universities -- including the Central Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of Music and China Conservatory of Music -- attended the competition and staged sonorous performances.

Organizers said the competition is not only a feast for musical lovers, but also a platform to showcase the skills of musicians.
