Charitable event helps hearing impaired
A charitable event known as the Starkey "So the world may hear" China (Inner Mongolia) Mission was held in Hohhot, the region's capital, on July 29.
Officials said that a total of 6,079 hearing-aids, valued at nearly 40 million yuan ($5.81 million), will be offered to 3,073 hearing-impaired people during the program.
The program, which has spanned 10 years, was initiated by Tao Siliang, consultant at the China Association of Mayors and the American Starkey Hearing Foundation. It is the largest Chinese-foreign private program for the hearing impaired in China.
Over the years, the program has helped 35,862 hearing-impaired people throughout provinces such as Sichuan, Yunnan, Jiangsu, and Gansu.
This year, the program has reached out to over 6,000 hearing impaired people in Hulunbuir, and a total of 3,073 hearing-impaired people from Hohhot have benefited from the program.
