Guoshanyao, a contemporary musical created by the Yao ethnic group in China, was held at Inner Mongolia Arts University during a drama festival in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on July 13.
Revolving around the culture of Ruyuan Yao autonomous county in Guangdong province, the musical tells the story of a man from the Yao ethnic group who returns to his hometown in search of his roots after living abroad for years.
The show consists of a prologue, singing, acting, and dancing, and features both traditional and modern elements.
According to Qiu Huasong, director of Guoshanyao, the performance aims to showcase the history of Ruyuan Yao autonomous county.
Guoshanyao is the only program in Guangdong province to be performed during the drama festival.
