Nanhu Wetland Park establishes protection area

A protection area in Nanhu Wetland Park in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was recently established, according to local authorities.
The protection area will play a significant role in manitaining the ecological balance of the region and helping scientific research in the area.
Nanhu Wetland Park was established in 2005 and opened to the public in September 2007.
Designed to restore the ecological system of wetlands, Nanhu Wetland Park is well known across the country for its grassland wetland landscapes.
There are 46 bird species in the park, including rare wild birds under national protection such as black storks and Japanese sparrowhawks.
The newly established protection area is in the southwest corner of Nanhu Wetland Park, and covers a water area of 80 hectares.
To protect biodiversity in the wetland park, the local gardening authority has also established a protection mechanism for the restoration of water quality.
