An unveiling ceremony for a genetic testing applications center was held at Horinger New Area in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on May 22.

It is the only center of its kind in Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Feng Yuzhen, mayor of Hohhot and other senior officials in the area attended the ceremony.

The center is designed to promote applications of the latest in genetic testing technologies in fields including the protection and control of birth defects, chronic diseases and infectious diseases.

Officials said the establishment of the center was of great significance for Inner Mongolia, to promote genetic testing technologies and provide personalized and precise medical services.

In addition to big data and cloud computing, Horinger New Area has continued to focus on the development of emerging industries -- including biotechnology, manufacturing, clean energy and new materials. It aims to improve industy and develop itself as a new engine of the high-quality commercial growth in Inner Mongolia.
