The total volume of import and export trade stood at 9.08 billion yuan ($1.31 billion) between January and September this year, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.6 percent, according to Hohhot Municipal Bureau of Commerce.

Individually, exports reached 4.09 billion yuan, an increase of 5.4 percent and imports reached 4.98 billion yuan, up 7.7 percent. 

The city's trade deficit amounted to 890 million yuan.
