'Sky road' swoops past golden fields

The fields below the Hechi section of the Lanhai Expressway, connecting Lanzhou in Gansu province and Haikou in Hainan province, have exploded in a sea of yellow as the warm weather brings rape flowers into bloom.

Known locally as the "sky road", the Liuzhai-Yizhou section in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region covers 179.17 kilometers with 33 tunnels and 119 bridges. Because the road has to navigate the mountainous terrain, traffic on most of the road is speed limited to 80kph.
