Climbing mountains

A large group of local residents gather in the Moon-worshipping Pavilion in Tongjiang Park in Nandan county on Jan 28. It is a tradition in Nandan for people to climb to the top of the pavilion on the first day of the Lunar New Year to pray for their ambitions to be fulfilled in the new year. Making chicken sculptures

Local traditional events

Local residents compete to make zongzi, a traditional snack made of rice and other ingredients stuffed into bamboo leaves, in Baiku Yao Ecological Museum in Nandan county. More than 300 people of the Baiku Yao ethnic minority took part in the event at the museum, which also involved other activities like playing the whipping top, a traditional toy similar to a spinning top. Recreational and sports activities
