Spring Festival in Hechi

Spring Festival, running from the first to the fifteenth day of the first month of the lunar calendar, is the most important festival in China and is traditionally a family holiday, when millions of people around the country go back to their hometowns for family reunions.

The way the holiday is traditionally celebrated varies in different regions. Hechi in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, a city that boasts rich cultural heritage, celebrated the festival through various activities.

Decorating windows with paper-cutting ornaments

Luo Huaqing, a famous paper-cutting artist from Luocheng Mulao autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, displays one of her works to local children. Luo made a collection of paper-cutting ornaments decorated with chicken designs in the run-up to Chinese New Year to celebrate the start of the Year of the Rooster.
