Ceremony held for Bama's 60th anniversary

November 18 marked the 60th anniversary of the founding of Bama Yao autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The local government sponsored a large-scale celebration ceremony on the day, with top officials and local residents from around the city attending.

A range of performances were conducted, including local folk dancing and a demonstration of intangible cultural heritage activities, which delighted the crowd with the embodiment of rich cultural elements and life-like acting.

At the same time, various activities such as a calligraphy exhibition, commodities fair and an economic and social development forum took place.

During the celebration ceremony, a spokesperson mentioned the current achievements that Bama has made over the past decades, and urged local residents to continue pursuing higher goals in the future.

Since its establishment in 1956, Bama has substantially increased its comprehensive economic strength, developed featured agriculture and upgraded tourism. Last year, local GDP and fiscal revenue reached 3.38 billion yuan ($494 million) and 232 million yuan, respectively.
