Remote mountainous caravan transports wood by horseback
A caravan that transports cedarwoods by horseback in the remote and hard-to-reach mountainous areas of Luocheng Mulao autonomous county, in Hechi, Guangxi, have begun new work for local merchants with an approved lumbering certificate, on March 19.
The Luocheng Mulam autonomous county is rich in wood resources in Guangxi. Due to the county's mountainous landscape, horses remain the only transport in and out of the area to this day.
Besides being a tiring and toilsome job for the workers and their horses, the job has other risks and dangers. The caravan members need to pay close attention to the ever-decreasing conditions of the narrow meandering footpaths during the transportation.
