Longest tunnel of Hechi-Baise Highway under construction

The Baweng Tunnel of Hechi-Baise Highway started construction on March 3.

Constructed by Guangxi Road and Bridge Engineering Group, Baweng Tunnel is a disconnect-type super-long tunnel with a total length of 3.14 kilometers, the longest of the Hechi-Baise Highway.

The total planned investment for the project is 270 million yuan ($41.45 million) with a construction period of 18 months. The entrance and the exit of the tunnel are located in Jinchengjiang district's Changlao village and Jiuxu town, respectively.

After its completion, the tunnel will permit traffic speed of 80kph.
