Hechi sees small rise in inflation for Januray

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Hechi in Guangxi increased by 1.8 percent in January compared with the same month last year and rose 0.8 percent over December 2015, according to data from National Bureau of Statistics.

The price of food category increased 0.2 percent from last December, due in part to increased demand and cold weather. The price of pork, shrimp and crab, and fruits grew by 0.7 percent, 7.9 percent and 3.9 percent respectively.

Increased demand and labor cost inflation drove the price of living goods and services up 0.1 percent. The hourly wage rate of cleaning workers and airline ticket prices rose by 3.4 percent and 19.7 percent respectively.

The price of clothing decreased slightly by 0.4 percent, mainly due to retailers discounting. The price of education, culture, entertainment and health care, remained unchanged.
