Hechi tax revenue up 100m yuan in 2015
Tax revenue in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous county has seen steady growth over the past year due to the city's effective tax management and streamlined collection services.
Hechi received 2.47 billion yuan ($380.4 million) in tax revenue in 2015, with an increase of 101 million yuan compared with the previous year, completing 103.78 percent of the annual target.
The government attributes this result to the reinforcement of tax source management. The tax department carried out several investigations in 2015 to ensure people and businesses pay the correct amounts.
Hydropower and non-ferrous metals industries were of particular focus to the tax department. In 2015, the accumulative total refund of duties of large-scale hydropower enterprises in Hechi stood at 398 million yuan, an increase of 200 million yuan from 2014. The total tax revenue of non-ferrous metals reached 218 million yuan, a decrease of 163 million yuan compared with the year before.
The quality and efficiency of services for taxpayers also improved in 2015, as the tax department cooperated with commercial banks, People's Bank of China and the Hechi financial bureau to enable taxpayers to handle their tax affairs online.
Due to preferential policies and the strengthening of the tax system, the city retrieved 50.31 million yuan in evaded taxes and 11.93 million yuan in tax arrears in 2015. Tax relief stood at 984 million yuan, increasing 726 million yuan from 2014.
