Warming winter soups to ward off illness

The low temperatures in winter provide the perfect conditions for catching a tickly cough or troublesome cold. The following are some wholesome, home-made fruit soups to help ward off those nasty winter worries.

1. Crystal sugar boiled pear

Helps: Reduce congestion and ease breathing

Prep: Peel and remove the core of the snow pear; Drop some crystalized sugar in the middle and stew in water for 1 hour.
