Guangxi's first national-level origin product protection demonstration area established

The Fangcheng district in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, held a press conference in Nanning, capital of the autonomous region, on Dec 31, to announce the establishment of the Fangcheng Golden Camellia National-level Ecological Origin Product Protection Demonstration Area, the first of its kind in Guangxi.

More than 90 government officials and guests from all walks of life were in attendance.

Five brands, including GuiRen Tang Fangcheng Golden Camellia, were awarded the plaque of "National-level Ecological Origin Protective Product".

Ecological origin products refer to ecotype products meeting green standards related to environmental protection, carbon levels, and energy and resource-saving qualities that also have characteristics of their place of origin. The system of protecting these products is the most rigorous globally so far, with more than 80 kinds of products under protection. It aims to further construction of an ecological society, promote sustainable development of regional economy and cultivate new advantages in brand competition.

Fangcheng district started the declaration work in April last year. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine sent an expert group to do the inspection and evaluation on Sep 9. The official reply approving the application was issued on Dec 7. As of that date, the Fangcheng district became the 1st district with a national-level origin product protection demonstration area in Guangxi, and the 9th in China.

The establishment of the demonstration area will accelerate the transformation and upgrading of golden camellia enterprises, enhance the additional value and market competitiveness of golden camellia products, and facilitate harmonious development between ecology and the economy.
