Hechi wins 38 medals in 13th Guangxi sports meet

The 13th Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Sports Meet ended at the stadium of Wuzhou University on Nov 18.

The city of Hechi in Guangxi won a total of 38 medals: 11 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze. The tally of gold medals this year is far more than the four won at the last meet, and ranked 11th among the 14 cities in Guangxi.

The Guangxi sports meet is held every four years. This year, it attracted 29 teams, 14 from cities in the autonomous region and 15 from different industries.

The total number of participating athletes, coaches and team leaders was 6,326. Some 715 gold medals were awarded in 31 sports events, making it the largest sports meet in Guangxi to date. A total of 40 records were broken in the youth group sports events.

Under the theme of "Sports, Happiness, Health and Harmony", the event aims to increase public involvement in sports and foster a feeling of striving for dreams.

The 14th Guangxi sports meet will be hosted by Baise, another city in the region.
