The first cocoon silk business incubator of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region recently settled in the economic development zone in Yizhou, a county-level city of Hechi, launching the first business incubator in the city.

The business incubator is also called hi-tech business incubation center. It is an entrepreneur service agency aiming to cultivate new hi-tech enterprises and entrepreneurs and promote the commercialization of research findings.

The new business incubator base covers more than 5,000 square meters, offering services in policies, management, law, finance, marketing and training for small and medium-sized technology enterprises.

It has so far attracted 17 enterprises, with 10 out of 30 projects having completed the commercialized transformation. With a gross investment of 530 million yuan ($83.32 million), the incubator helped add 1,664 jobs to the local economy and is expected to generate an output value of 820 million yuan.

Over the past 10 years, Yizhou has remained the largest silkworm production base nationwide. Its mulberry field area stays above 300,000 mu (20,000 hectares), and the fresh cocoon output reached 54,800 tons in 2014.

The new business incubator center launched in Yizhou will help provide services for the largest silkworm base and cocoon silk enterprises nationwide and lay a solid foundation for developing the cocoon and silk industrial cluster in Yizhou’s economic development zone.
