Luocheng starts to broadcast Mulam language program

The main TV station of the Luocheng Mulam autonomous county in Hechi has started to broadcast a Mulam language program –News in Mulam Language from July 30.

Located in Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and established in 1984, Luocheng is China's only Mulam autonomous county. It has a total Mulam population of 120,000, accounting for 73 percent of the ethnic group's members in the whole country.

In recent years, Luocheng has paid attention to public relations via radio and television to create a favorable public opinion atmosphere for its economic and social development. In order to better preserve, inherit and develop Mulam distinctive culture, Luocheng's Party committee and local government decided to launch a Mulam language program on local TV.

Ahead of the launch, Luocheng made sure to extensively consult with professionals to determine the program content and conduct research about the Mulam language. It also allocated a program budget of 150,000 yuan ($24,150), which provided fund guarantee for the smooth opening of the program.

The program received attention and praise from the public. It is set to help better publicize the national policies and regulations in Mulam mountain areas and promote the cultural heritage and development of Mulao ethnic group.
