Wei Daifu voted for cover person of Moral Models 365

Wei Daifu, a teacher at Gucheng Primary School in Hechi's Luocheng Mulam autonomous county, was selected as a cover person of Moral Models 365, a popular section at Chinese Civilization Net (www.wenming.cn).

The Moral Models 365 is supported by Peoples Net, Xinhua Net, Guangming Net and China Network Television since October 2014 to widely spread the stories of moral models in the society.

It has been 36 years since Wei became an elementary teacher in this remote and mountainous village. In August 2010, at his 31st year of his teaching career, Wei was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. He ignored everyone's advice and returned to school after three months of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

"I have been a teacher for 36 years. Teaching becomes part of my life and my students are just like my own children. So I'd rather come back to school than have a rest at home," he said.

Although he suffers considerable pain and discomfort because of the chemotherapy and radiation therapy, he always spares no efforts to prepare and give lessons on time for his students. Furthermore, he often visits the stay-at-home children at his class instead of resting at home.

By the end of July 2015, more than 200,000 yuan, which is a very heavy burden for Wei's family, have been spent on his therapy. However, none of Wei's students dropped out of school for lack of money because Wei always uses his meager salary to help them.

Good things follow good deeds. When people have learned about Wei's dedicated efforts, they have started providing their strong moral and physical support for him.
