Several trees along the main roads in Hechi were either uprooted or torn apart by stormy weather on July 14, Hechi Daily reported.
Despite the strong winds lasted only for a short while, it has caused extensive damage in places. Winds powering at 15 m/s of wind speed affected parts of the city in the mid-afternoon, July 14.
At least five trees were badly torn apart, with one falling off on two cars parking on the roadside of Nanxin East Road and another blocking the bus lane on the Jincheng Middle Road.
Some advertising boards were also blown away by the strong wind, causing economic and material damage. No one was reported to have been injured.
Emergency services eventually cleared off the roads and attended to those who were affected.
Government officials warn residents to be vigilant while walking under trees in strong winds.
