Luocheng's new Mulam museum becomes popular
Luocheng's Mulam museum in Hechi, Guangxi, became a new tourism destination during the May Day holiday.
As the only Mulam autonomous county in China, Luocheng has long history and profound ethnic culture. In order to protect and display its cultural heritage, Luocheng invested 24 million yuan ($3.87 million) more in 2014 for a new free opening museum to replace a smaller one built in 2004.
Located inside the Chenglong Lake Park, the new Mulam museum covers 2,688 square meters, with a total floor area of 6,500 square meters. The seven exhibition halls exhibit more than 2,300 cultural relics, such as fossils, porcelains, coins, embroideries, wood carvings and folk costumes.
The museum further improved the protection of local cultural relics and satisfied people's demand to learn and research the characteristic Mulam ethnic culture.
According to a museum staff, the new museum received more than 45,000 tourists in the first quarter of the year.
