The 18-day caving expedition recently ended in Fengshan World Geopark in Hechi, Southwest China's Guangxi.

The expedition published its achievements on the afternoon of April 26. The cave was found to be over 30 kilometers longer than originally believed. The experts also discovered an 80,000-square-meter underground cavern and a possible primitive monkey skeleton.

A total of 20 experts from France, Italy and China were in the expedition. They explored the cave systems in Fengshan, which enriched the underground river system database and offered a scientific basis for the development of geological adventure tourism.

Fengshan is famous for its karst and caves. Due to the karst lava landscape, it was given the title of World Geopark. Since the first scientific investigation in 1987, nearly 30 investigations have been carried out by scientists from foreign countries such as Britain, France, the United States and Australia.
