The Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county in Hechi, Guangxi, held the “Meet with you at the Moon Hill” activity on March 8. Thousands of people gathered at Sancai village as part of the activity, to appreciate the sea of rape flowers and enjoy an ethnic cultural party.

A series of activities were held on the day, such as the final competition of Huanjiang’s youth tourism image ambassadors, Huanjiang’s first civilized etiquette show and a voluntary tree planting activity.

Huanjiang is the only autonomous county of the Maonan ethnic group in China. The county has had many titles awarded to areas within it, such as a world natural heritage site, national ecological demonstration area, Chinese orchid village, Chinese beef cattle village, Guangxi’s calligraphy village and Guangxi’s folk song village. It has strong national customs and a good ecological environment with two national nature reserves.

Huanjiang has abundant natural and cultural tourism resources. On Jun 23, 2014, its karst landscape was included in the World Natural Heritage list. The local government plans to build the county a new tourist destination in Guangxi by advocating its two brands of World Natural Heritage and mysterious Maonan ethnic culture within five to 10 years.
