Villagers from the Baikuyao ethnic group in Nandan county gathered at Lihu Street on March 6 to celebrate the annual Nanjie Festival.

Wearing their national costumes, the Baikuyao people celebrated the festival by singing, dancing, spinning tops and playing bronze drums.

To the Baikuyao people, the day of the Nianjie Festival marks the ending of the previous year and the beginning of the next. Villagers young and old enjoyed themselves and celebrated the start of the New Year late into the night.
