Donglan’s calcium carbonate industry touches on 100m yuan mark

Over 2,000 tons of coarse whiting were transported to Zhuhai in Guangdong province at the end of 2014 by the Keda Powder Plant in Donglan county, Hechi, Guangxi.

Last year marked the first time that Donglan’s three big calcium carbonate processing plants entered into operation. Donglan’s calcium carbonate industry produced an annual output value of more than 98 million yuan ($15.67 million) in 2014, becoming the county’s major industrial economic growth point.

Donglan has large reserves of natural calcium carbonate, located primarily in towns such as Donglan, Sanshi and Simeng. Its calcium carbonate, high in quality, is widely used in food, cosmetics, medicine and toothpaste.

Donglan county has established a leading group with members from departments of information and industry technology, land and resources, development and reform, and safety supervision, in order to solve the major issues faced in the process of developing the local calcium carbonate industry and guarantee the healthy and orderly development of the industry.
