Guangxi Yizhou's "Liu Sanjie Cup" National Folk Song Invitational ends

Guangxi Yizhou’s “Liu Sanjie Cup” National Folk Song Invitational came to an end on the evening of Nov 17. Nearly 60 original folk singers in 20 teams from 14 provinces, regions and cities participated in the competition after a two-day knockout match. Wei An’ning, Mo Qiuting, Peng Zhonghua and some other official leaders of Yizhou watched the performance and awarded contestants prizes.

Pan Shaoyu, deputy mayor of Yizhou, addressed the opening ceremony of the competition. She said that Yizhou is the hometown of the famous folk singer Liu Sanjie and it also has a history of more than 2,100 years. The “Liu Sanjie Cup” can tell the world about Yizhou’s beautiful landscape and amazing culture, promote the culture brand of Liu Sanjie and boost the local tourism industry.

In recent years, Yizhou has striven to develop Liu Sanjie folk song brand by making full use of its ethnic cultural resources.

The Guangxi Yizhou “Liu Sanjie Cup” National Folk Song Invitational was divided into two rounds and established three prizes – the Best Singing Performance, Best Style Award and Best Performance Award. The competition was divided into solo singing, group singing and antiphonal singing. Contestants came from more than 10 different ethnic backgrounds such as the Zhuang and Yao ethnic groups. All the performances were very impressive and reflected strong local ethnic characteristics.

After the tough and exciting competition, 10 teams from Inner Mongolia, Guizhou, Qinghai and others received the Best Performance Award. Tibet, Xinjiang, Sichuan and another seven teams won the Best Style Award and Yizhou, Yunnan, Shaanxi and another seven teams received the Best Singing Performance.
