Hechi’s three festivals win national awards

Hechi recently won three awards in the fifth Chinese National Festivals & Events Summit and at the awards ceremony of the 2014 Chinese Excellent National Festivals & Events, held in Wuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Tian’e county’s Zhuang Maguai (Frog) Festival continued to win the “Top National Characteristic Chinese Festival” and its Sanbao Tung Flower Festival won the “Top Innovative Valued Chinese Festival”, making Tian’e the only county (region) achieving two awards in the ceremony. Additionally, Yizhou won “The Most Attractive Festival City (region)” relying on the Liu Sanjie Cultural Tourism Festival.

The fifth Chinese National Festivals & Events Summit and the awards ceremony of the 2014 Chinese Excellent National Festivals & Events were jointly sponsored by the China Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences, the Professional Board of the National Festival Research and the Chinese branch of the International Festivals & Events Association. It selected 10 “Top National Characteristic Chinese Festivals”, 10 “Most International Influential Festivals”, 10 “Most Attractive Festival Cities (regions)”, 10 “Top Innovative Valued Chinese Festivals” and eight “Outstanding Figures in Annual Festivals”. A total of 700 festivals and events applied for the selection from across the nation.

In recent years, Tian’e county has paid high attention to the protection and inheritance of its national cultures. The two awards will better promote the development of the local national culture and ecological tourism industry.
